Sometimes life creates challenges and or opportunities and we are faced with decisions. Sometimes these decisions include saying no to something. This is not easy for many people, especially if you are tending toward wanting to be liked, pleasing others, and even just being oriented to make a difference in people's lives. Saying no can feel like you're letting someone down or not showing up.
It helps to remember that saying no to something is also saying yes to something else. You are making room, for something that maybe aligns with the current version of you. Being your only true self-advocate is an important job. Others, whether well-meaning or not, have other priorities besides strictly your well-being.
If we want to live our lives authentically and be true to our inner calling and sense of purpose, at times this will call for a clear no to say a clear yes. If you're facing such a situation, or see one coming down the road a bit, take heart, you have what it takes. Courage will arise, and you will find yourself stronger and swifter and more capable to follow your own path, than you may imagine now, looking at this mountain ahead of you.
for the journey ahead,
Tony Gilotte
