" The Spirit sports with time... some thoughts always find us young and keep us so, such a thought is the love of the universal and eternal beauty.." Ralph Waldo Emerson
This idea captured in these few words of the great writer, stirs my soul to no end. I feel the power of this truth at the moment of this writing. Images and deep feelings of moments of beauty come flooding in.
This experience is truly the eternal sporting with, or playing with time. How so you ask? I feel the vigor of youth as I interact with the experience of universal and eternal beauty. I feel time stand still, some fullness rushing into me that is like a river of deep emotion and, more than emotion, life energy.
What is this universal and eternal beauty? It can be said to be direct contact with the soul, and spirit of life, that sense that this moment is deeper, more alive, more full of experience and sensation than most. However, and whenever this shows up for you, such a moment is an interaction with this beauty.
It may come sweeping in as would a strong north wind on an autumn day, swirling leaves around and calling for your attention. Or it can be subtler, like the calm depth of sitting in a cafe gently observing the comings and goings of a particular moment.
In any case, it can be called a visitation, a deeper aspect of life, drawing or calling you to step aside, and notice and find nourishment, strength, and depth for the taking.
This being the case, and most of us experiencing this surprising and meaningful experience more than a few times, what could this be other than the source of all, life and soul, the over-soul, as Emerson called it, interacting with us, at a level of consciousness that is related to our true essence.
This might be a hint as to why it feels so real, so deeply meaningful and so attractive, that we long for, and seek this kind of experience more than we may realize.
I think it is fair to say that every effort we make, to find more meaning, depth, and fulfillment, in life, whatever the avenue we choose to pursue it, can be said to be, the seeking, and experiencing of universal and eternal beauty.
warmly and with an experience of this now,
